Client Success Is The Only Thing That Matters

The Situation

We’ve been working with a psychology clinic in Switzerland for a little while now. Great team. Great mission. We’re helping them build an app that supports the way they work with clients in-session, giving them a clearer, more visual way to understand what’s going on beneath the surface.

The idea is to give practitioners a tool that lets them capture important client data in real time, then see the patterns and relationships between different factors like emotions, physical symptoms, and life context, all in one place.

The end goal is a more complete picture of the person sitting in front of them, and a faster path to understanding what might actually help.

The Last-Minute Curveball

We had just wrapped up a round of changes ahead of an upcoming convention. Everything was tested and ready to go. Then, with less than 12 hours to go, they sent through a new request.

“Hey… would it be possible to add a new page that shows our data moving around?”

Not ideal timing, but totally understandable. The closer you get to presenting something, the clearer you see what’s missing.

The Decision

A lot of teams would have said, 'That’s out of scope,' or 'Let’s look at that after the event.'

But I don’t see the point in turning down a good idea if it’s achievable, especially when it can genuinely improve how people experience your product.

So I said, 'Send me the details.'

The Build

Once I had the requirements, I blocked out a couple of hours and got to work. This wasn’t just a small tweak. It meant:

Creating a completely new screen layout,Defining how the new data should be visualised,Writing new data rules and permissions logic,Integrating it with the existing app flow without breaking anything

We shipped it that night.

The Impact

They presented the app with the new screen the next morning. I found out later that it sparked real conversations. People were drawn to how clearly the app showed what was happening with client data, and how it could be used in practice.

Why It Matters

This is exactly why we love working with teams over time. It’s not just about delivering a scoped feature list. It’s about being there when something comes up last minute and actually making it happen.

At Block Software, we care about making sure the product matches the purpose. Sometimes that means jumping in when the timing is tight, because the impact is worth it.

We don’t just write code. We help teams move forward.
